Sample Itinerary ~ Day 1 - FRI - George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate
- Kick-off on your Mid-Atlantic Adventure visiting George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate. This beautiful property, nestled along the Potomac River, is where our first President escaped the rigors of public life.
- After exploring the estate and touring the mansion, depart to enjoy a delicious Welcome Dinner in Old Town Alexandria and stroll the cobblestone streets of the historic port town.
- Check-in to your local MARS-Partner Property to rest and relax for the evening.
- Begin with breakfast at the hotel this morning.
- Explore Gunston Hall, an 18th-century Georgian mansion near the Potomac River in Mason Neck, Virginia. Built between 1755 and 1759 by George Mason, a Founding Father and author of the 1776 Virginia Bill of Rights, to be the main residence and headquarters of a 5,500-acre plantation. The home is located not far from George Washington's home.
- Travel to Woodlawn Plantation & Frank Loyd Wright/Pope-Leighey House, two iconic, historic homes set on 126 historic acres of land.
- Afterwards, spend free time at the National Harbor where you can explore the vibrant mini-city, shop the specialty stores, dine at your leisure, and experience a ride on the Capital Wheel with breathtaking views of the Nation’s City.
- Next, board your Water Taxi and travel along the Potomac River to The Wharf, a spectacular boardwalk full of dining and shopping where you can continue your free time to relax and have fun.
- This evening, meet your DC Tour Guide who will join you for an included dinner at a waterfront restaurant followed by an Illuminated Monument Tour to see DC’s iconic memorials softened by the glow of warm lights. Walk through the Kennedy Center and view the District from the terrace—the City is impressive during the day - stunning at night!
- Return to your hotel for the remainder of the evening.
