Day 1 - Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History & Ford House
  • Arrive in the Motor City, Detroit in the afternoon.
  • Spend the afternoon exploring the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. For over half a century, the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History has dedicated itself to exploring and celebrating the rich cultural legacy of African Americans.
  • This evening tour Ford House, the estate of Edsel & Eleanor Ford. Edsel B. Ford was the only child of Clara and Henry Ford, founder of Ford Motor Company.  You’ll find Ford House is not ostentatious or intimidating, despite the elegant décor and the fine art on the walls. The rooms feel intimate and comfortable. It isn’t just a house — it’s a home.  After your tour of Ford House, dine at The Continental, located on the grounds of the estate, the restaurant has a beautiful view of Lake St. Clair.

  Day 2 - Motown Museum and Hitsville USA, Third Man Records, & Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation 
  • Enjoy breakfast at your hotel.
  • Put your dancing shoes on! Today start with a visit to Motown Museum and Hitsville USA. Motown Museum transports you into an era of musical magic. From the moment you step on the plaza, you’ll be immersed in the Motown sound and will experience a profound sense of history.  Located in the original headquarters and music recording studio for Motown Records, the Museum is home to an extensive array of authentic company artifacts, photographs, and costumes.
  • Have you ever wondered how records are made? Visit Third Man Records where they are manufacturing records in a state-of-the-art vinyl manufacturing plant in Downtown Detroit.
  • Step into a world where past innovations fuel the imagination of generations to come. Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation allows you to experience the strides of America’s greatest minds while fully immersing yourself in their stories. Step inside the bus where Rosa Parks took a stand by taking a seat. Play pilot as you explore flight innovations, starting with the Wright brothers' achievements, or make yourself at home inside Buckminster Fuller’s circular Dymaxion House.
  • Take a lunch break at one of the three restaurants located inside the museum.
  • Enjoy dinner at a Detroit Area Restaurant.
  Day 3 - Ford Rouge Factory Tour, Critchlow Alligator Sanctuary, & Kellogg Manor House. 
  • Breakfast at your hotel.
  • It is time to see how Ford manufactures the F-150 aluminum body truck at the Ford Rouge Factory Tour. A truck rolls off the assembly line every minute!
  • Make your way to the west side of Michigan this afternoon. Stop in Historic Marshall Michigan for lunch at Schuler’s.
  • Keep your eyes open for alligators! Yes, there are alligators in Michigan at Critchlow Alligator Sanctuary. This family run sanctuary will share the story of how all these alligators ended up in Michigan.
  • This evening you will learn about the history of Kellogg’s Cereal and how Cornflakes were an accident at K. Kellogg Manor House, the former estate of cereal magnate W.K. Kellogg and his wife, Dr. Carrie Staines Kellogg. Restored to its original grandeur, the home is rich with history and elegance with natural gardens around a lovely lakeside setting.  After your tour, you will be served dinner inside Kellogg Manor House.

Day 4 - Gilmore Car Museum, Beer City USA, & Frederick Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, 
  • Did you know that Kalamazoo was almost the Motor City? Start your day at Gilmore Car Museum, North America's largest auto museum with over 400 vehicles on display. The Museum’s 90-acre Historic Campus features numerous vintage structures including a restored and fully-functioning 1941 Silk City Diner, a recreated 1930s Shell Station, six onsite Partner Museums, and a set from a Disney movie.  Stop in the Diner for lunch before you depart, save room for the frozen custard or a piece of pie!
  • This afternoon you will arrive in Beer City USA – Grand Rapids! Since winning that title in a nationwide poll, the city has won a bevy of additional ale accolades – including USA Today nods for America’s Best Beer Town (2014), Best Beer Scene (2017) and Best Beer City (2022 & 2021). Quantity and quality make Grand Rapids the top choice of beer lovers. There are more than 40 craft breweries and each of them produces a distinctly delicious lineup of liquid bliss.
  • Take a relaxing tram ride through Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park. The masterpieces of art and nature will delight your senses! Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park is on of the nation’s premier horticultural display gardens and sculpture parks.
  • Check-in at the Amway Grand Hotel in downtown Grand Rapids.
  • When in Beer City you must sample the beer! Enjoy a dinner and beer tasting tonight.
Day 5 - Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum, Grand Rapids, Muskegon, & Lake Michigan 
  • This morning explore the lives of America’s 38th President, Gerald R. Ford and First Lady Betty Ford at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum. At the core of the museum is the permanent exhibit, which allows visitors to view highlights from President and Mrs. Ford’s lives. In addition to the permanent exhibits, changing temporary exhibits draw artifacts from all over the country.
  • This afternoon you are free to explore Grand Rapids. Sample beer at a variety of craft breweries, visit the Grand Rapids Public Museum, Grand Rapids Art Museum, Grand Rapids African American Museum & Archives, or the Amway Grand Hotel spa, the choice is yours!
  • This evening you will have dinner in Muskegon before departing on a sunset cruise out to Lake Michigan with Aquastar Cruises.
Day 6 - De Klomp Wooden Shoe & Delft Factory & Windmill Island Gardens
  • Spend your last morning in Michigan in Holland, at De Klomp Wooden Shoe & Delft Factory, where you can talk with the artists as they mold, hand-paint, and glaze the only authentic blue and white delftware made in the U.S. Watch wooden shoe carving on machines that were imported from the Netherlands.
  • No stop in Holland is complete without a visit to Windmill Island Gardens. Tour De Zwaan, the only authentic Dutch windmill operating in the United States – still turning and grinding wheat into flour! Lunch will be on your own in Downtown Holland before departing for home.
