Featuring rest, relaxation, with plenty of free time to explore in Northern Michigan.  Fly into Traverse City’s Cherry Capital Airport (TVC). The moment you step off the plane you will be enveloped with the calm of Northern Michigan. Arrive at your hotel at your leisure and relax in your accommodation to wake rested and ready for adventure.
 
  Day One:
  • After breakfast at your hotel this morning, depart for Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
  • Arrive at the Philip A. Hart Visitor Center in Empire. View the 26-minute visitor video with a beautiful view and stories of the National Lakeshore, speak with Rangers who are ready to give you an educational overview of the park layout and group friendly restrooms.
  • Depart on a Pierce Stocking Scenic Driving Tour.  Embark on a 7-mile-long drive through the dunes and forest with stops for a quick walk to scenic lookouts over Lake Michigan.
  • Depart for Glen Arbor and the Cherry Republic to sample more than 200 tasty products made with local cherries and enjoy an included lunch at the Cherry Public House. You can also include free time to wander this quaint village.
  • Stop in at one of Traverse City’s nearly 50 wineries to enjoy a tasting flight and charcuterie. Rove Vineyard is on your way back to Traverse City and is the highest point in Leelanau County with spectacular views.
  • Enjoy a Welcome Dinner included at a popular local restaurant.
  • Return to your hotel for the evening.
 
Day Two:
  • After breakfast at your hotel depart for the Village at Grand Traverse Commons for a full tour and free time for shopping on your own.
  • Enjoy an included lunch at Michigan’s oldest continuously operating taverns, Sleders Family Restaurant and “Kiss the Moose”.
  • This afternoon head to Dennos Museum, with ‘hands on’ interactive and changing exhibits of art and science. Enjoy an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience with the curator.
  • Depart for the 17-mile long Old Mission Peninsula for breathtaking views of Grand Traverse Bay, farmlands, and vineyards. Make stops at the Mission Point Lighthouse for a quick tour and dip your toes in Lake Michigan’s Grand Traverse Bay before heading to Chateau Chantal Vineyards for a tour and wine paired dinner.
  • Return to your hotel to rest.
 
Day Three:
  • After breakfast, check out and depart for the Music House Museum, a curated collection of antique automated music machines. You will hear the music played on these restored treasures.
  • Next, let’s head to Charlevoix and Castle Farms for a guided tour and lunch included.
  • Depart for Petoskey for overnight, with time for shopping downtown’s Gaslight Village and dinner on your own.
  • Check-in to your Petoskey accommodations.

 
Day Four:
  • After breakfast at your hotel, check out, board your coach, & head north along Lake Michigan.
  • Arrive at Shepler’s Mackinac Island Ferry in Mackinac City for a ferry ride across the Mackinac Straits to Mackinac Island, where cars are banned and horses’ rule. We will take a guided horse drawn carriage ride ending at the Grand Hotel with a magnificent lunch buffet.
  • Check-in to the hotel and enjoy the afternoon on your own at your leisure.

 
Day Five:
  • Enjoy a Free Day on Mackinac Island on your own at your leisure today.

 
Day Six:
  • After breakfast on the Island, check out and climb aboard the Shepler’s Mackinac Island Ferry and head to St. Ignace.
  • Stop to pick up a step-on guide for an educational crossing on the Mackinac Bridge, a 5-mile suspension bridge that connects Michigan’s upper and lower peninsulas.
  • Arrive in Frankenmuth at Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland for a shopping experience like no other. Enjoy lunch on your own while exploring.
  • Check-in to your local hotel to relax before a family style Famous Chicken Dinner at either Zehnder’s or Bavarian Inn. Loosen your belts! It is a delicious experience.

 
Day Seven:
  • Depart for Detroit for a step-on guided tour of downtown Detroit, take in the splendor of the Motor City and learn the origins of this center of commerce and change.
  • Lunch will be included at an historic restaurant representing Detroit’s rich Polish culture called Polish Village.
  • Visit the historical beginnings of Motown Music in Hitsville USA where you will stand where the greats of Motown stood and recorded the records we know and love.
  • Depart for Dearborn for an overnight stay at a local hotel and a Farewell Dinner included.

 
Day Eight:
  • This morning, after breakfast included, there are choices before heading to the Detroit Metro Airport for departure.
  • Choice 1: Tour the Ford Rouge Plant to watch the Ford F-150 trucks being built and learn about the “living” roof and Ford’s sustainability efforts.
  • Choice 2: Tour the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation.
  • Depart for home via Detroit Metro Airport (DTW).
