Day 1 - Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad
  • Arrive in West Virginia.
  • Board the Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad. Enjoy the three-hour narrated excursion through a tranquil and pristine mountain valley with premium lunch included. View historic farms and lush mountain greenery. Around every curve you are rewarded with the splendor of native wildflowers, evergreens, and mixed hardwoods in an unspoiled countryside environment. Don't be surprised to see bald eagles overhead in pursuit of prey or gliding gently across the blue mountain skies.

Day 2 - Bunker at The Greenbrier, Green Bank Telescope 
  • Breakfast is included at your hotel this morning.
  • Tour the Bunker at The Greenbrier. This must-see experience takes you behind the scenes and walks you through a fascinating period in the resort's history. Carved deep into the mountainside beneath our West Virginia Wing is an emergency Cold War fallout shelter. Once a top-secret U.S. government relocation facility for Congress, The Bunker is now open to anyone interested in reliving a legendary piece of The Greenbrier history. 
  • Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
  • Visit the Green Bank Telescope and tour the Green Bank Science Center. The Green Bank Observatory is a cutting-edge research and education facility which hosts the world’s largest fully steerable radio telescope, the 100m Green Bank Telescope, as well as many other research class instruments, a forefront engineering research and development laboratory, and a highly successful series of STEM education and training programs.
  • Return to the resort and enjoy dinner on your own. 
Day 3 - Excursion Train Ride, West Virginia Railroad Museum, Gandy Dancer Dinner Theater
  • Enjoy breakfast at your hotel.
  • Arrive at Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad and enjoy your Train Ride Excursion. This vintage diesel-powered passenger train has gained a reputation as one of the most relaxing mountain wilderness excursions in our Mountain Rail Adventure portfolio. The 4-hour, 46-mile round trip departs at 11 a.m. from the restored Elkins Depot on Railroad Avenue. On the trip to the Falls, enjoy a cold cut lunch, which is included in the ticket price. The trip culminates at the High Falls of Cheat, an 18′ high, 150′ wide waterfall located in one of the most remote and pristine settings in the region. If you’re looking for comfort and spectacular views on a vintage train this is the ride for you! 
  • Explore the West Virginia Railroad Museum. The West Virginia Railroad Museum is located in the historic Darden Mill in Elkins, West Virginia—a city that was built by the railroads. The Mill is on the corner of First Street and Railroad Avenue, two blocks south of the heart of downtown and the old railway depot. The Darden Mill was built in 1902, on land purchased from the West Virginia Central and Pittsburgh Railway Company. It was a grain mill between 1902 and 1943, run first by the Elkins Milling Company then by the Darden Company.
  • Enjoy free time in downtown Elkin.
  • Take your seats for a dinner and a show at Gandy Dancer Dinner Theater. Enjoy a wonderful dinner, sit back and watch an amazing music show at the Gandy Dancer Dinner Theatre. Enjoy this amazing show where our performers pay their tribute to such musical legends as Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Johnny and June Cash, Elvis and many more.
  • After the show, return to your hotel.
Day 4 - Blackwater Falls
  • Prior to checking out, enjoy breakfast at your hotel.
  • Enjoy beautiful views at Blackwater Falls Boardwalk. You will enjoy beautiful views of the Blackwater Falls from the boardwalk overlook at the end of this short trail. This 0.2-mile out-and-back trail near Davis, West Virginia. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 4 min to complete.
  • Enjoy a farewell lunch at The Smokehouse at Blackwater Falls. The homey atmosphere of this place allows customers to relax after a full 3 days of sightseeing. Service at this spot is something one might call fine.
  • Depart for home.
