Legends of the Crooked Road

The Crooked Road winds through almost 300 miles of scenic terrain in southwest Virginia, including 19 counties, four cities, and 54 towns.

Day and night, the plaintive strains of the mountain ballads and toe-tapping, old-time dance music echo across this region's sharp ridges and deep valleys. Look for the sign along the Trail as you explore the musical soul of Virginia's country connections and experience a unique and unforgettable experience!

The Legends from the Crooked Road are many. Some of the old-time musicians, such as the Mullins Family Singers, Henry Whittier and the other musicians from the Fries Mill could not be overlooked for this Legends list. And to list all the legends along the Crooked Road would take an encyclopedia of volumes, A-Z.
