Sample Itinerary:
Day 1 - Arrivals & Welcome Dinner
  • Arrive in Savannah, Georgia, check-in to your River Street Hotel, and depart for a Welcome Dinner at a historic restaurant. First opened in 1753 as an inn for seafarers, it quickly became a meeting point for pirates and sailors from the Seven Seas. Since then, they have been entertaining visitors with a bounty of delicious food, drink, and rousing good times! (Meals: Welcome Dinner)
 
Day 2 - Historic Savannah Tour
  • Enjoy breakfast included at the hotel this morning prior to meeting your Trolley and GUIDE at the halfmoon driveway for a 90-Minute Tour of Historic Savannah.
  • Depart for an Andrew Low House Tour. Imagine Savannah in the 1840s as an active and thriving seaport. A young Scottish immigrant named Andrew Low II became one of the most successful businessmen in Georgia.
  • Enjoy lunch on own at one of the many fine restaurants offering an array of culinary delights located in the City Market.
  • Visit the American Prohibition Museum. Explore, and enjoy a signature cocktail. Later, explore the Bonaventure Cemetery.
  • Return to the hotel for rest & relaxation or explore River Street. There are several rooftop bars within walking distance of the hotel.
  • Enjoy dinner included at a local seafood restaurant. (Meals: B, D)
 
Day 3 - Dolphin Cruise, Gullah Geechee Visitors Center, & Penn Center
  • Enjoy breakfast included at the hotel this morning.
  • Board your History & Dolphin Cruise, and sail along the waterfront. The Captain shares stories about local history, beginning with Native Americans and into Spanish exploration, French settlement, and English colonization. Along the way, you’re likely to see playful bottlenose dolphins, nesting bald eagles, and ospreys on the hunt.
  • Dock and depart for a Low Country Shrimp Boil Lunch (AKA Frogmore Stew), where you will enjoy an entertaining & educational performance by a Gullah Geechee storyteller and historical interpreter.
  • Visit the Penn Center and enjoy a Docent Led Tour. Tucked in the heart of South Carolina, Sea Islands, surrounded by glimmering marshes and nestled beneath the silvery moss-drooped limbs of massive live Oaks, is Penn Center, the site of former Penn School, one of the country’s first schools for formerly enslaved individuals.
  • Continue catching the spirit of island life and its unique history and heritage. Visit a Praise House, Pat Conroy Grave, & Slave Cemetery.
  • Arrive at Hunting Island State Park Visitors Center and visit the pristine beaches and historic lighthouse.
  • Depart for a Historic Antebellum Home, arrive & enjoy a Welcome Reception on the porch overlooking the serene Beaufort River at sunset. Enjoy a glass of wine or beer with light hor d’oeuvres followed by dinner included at a nearby favorite restaurant. (Meals: B, L, D)
 
Day 4 - Wormsloe Plantation, Pin Point Heritage Museum, BBQ Lunch, & Farewell Dinner
  • Enjoy breakfast included at the hotel this morning prior to departing for Wormsloe Historic Plantation. A breathtaking avenue sheltered by live oaks and Spanish moss leading to the tabby ruins of Wormsloe, the colonial estate of Noble Jones. Jones was a humble carpenter who arrived in Georgia in 1733 with James Oglethorpe and the first group of settlers from England.
  • Visit Pin Point Heritage Museum, and experience the Gullah Geechee culture firsthand. For nearly 100 years, the community of Pin Point was quietly isolated on the banks of the Moon River just south of Savannah. Now, you can explore the refurbished museum complex and experience multimedia presentations, exciting exhibits, and unparalleled views of the marsh.
  • Enjoy BBQ Lunch included, served on a deck overlooking the Moon River.
  • Visit the Tybee Island Light Station and Museum. It is one of seven surviving colonial era lighthouse towers, though highly modified in the mid-1800s.
  • Return to the hotel to refresh and relax before dinner. Enjoy Riverwalk or have a cocktail at one of the nearby rooftop locations.
  • Enjoy a Farewell Dinner included at a local seafood favorite overlooking the Herb River Nestled in the heart of Sandfly offering a seafood lover's paradise. From Parmesan Crusted Grouper to Crab Stuffed Flounder to Jumbo Grilled Caribbean Shrimp, there is something for everyone as landlubbers may select from choice steaks, chicken, or pasta specialties. Day 5 - Southern Foods Walking Tour & Depart
  • Prior to checking out, enjoy breakfast included at the hotel this morning.
  • Experience a Tour of the Telfair Academy. This Mansion to Museum, contains three nineteenth-century period rooms and houses nineteenth and twentieth-century American and European art from the museum’s permanent collection including paintings, works on paper, sculpture, and decorative arts.
  • Enjoy a Southern Foods Walking Tour. Meet your GUIDE, try award-winning shrimp and grits over a brief introduction to the history of the city, as well as a bite from the famous cheesecake market. Begin walking around the city’s Historic waterfront on your way to fried crab claws and famous handmade hot sauce. Find hidden tunnels on your walk and visit the home of the original chicken finger. Then chow-down on tomato bruschetta & prosecco. Next up, a local tavern for a taste of Savannah’s best BBQ. Afterwards, head to the historic riverfront for Pimento Cheese and beer cheese as well as pretzel bites. Taste enough samples for a filling lunch.
  • There is plenty of time to order and pay for cocktails and spirits along the way. As you walk, you will learn about Savannah’s long and fascinating history as Georgia’s hostess city of the South. From the first wooden ships to cross the Atlantic Ocean, to the city’s secret Shanghai tunnels, we will talk all things Savannah.
