Day 1 - Monticello & Highland
  • Arrive in Charlottesville, VA, and enjoy delicious Colonial fare for lunch included at a famous, historic tavern.
  • Explore Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson, our Nation’s 3rd President, who drafted the Declaration of Independence proclaiming the colonists’ right to rebel against the British government & establish their own based on the premise that all men are created equal and have the inalienable right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
  • Stroll the grounds at James Monroe’s Highland, the home & estate of the 5th President and a Founding Father. Formerly known as Ash Lawn, the estate boasts a collection of 18th and 19th-century furnishings. Many of these artifacts were originals of the Monroe family, providing an equate level of authenticity. With a presidential guest house, self-guided outbuildings, gardens & grounds, there is plenty to explore at Highland. Enjoy a presentation by James Monroe while visiting!
  • Check-in to your local hotel.
  • Visit the iconic Rotunda, located on The Lawn on the original grounds of the University of Virginia. Thomas Jefferson designed it to represent the "authority of nature and power of reason" and modeled it after the Pantheon in Rome.
  • Enjoy a Welcome Dinner at a favorite restaurant.
Day 2 - James Madison & Colonial Alexandria
  • Enjoy breakfast included at the hotel this morning prior to checking out.
  • Visit Montpelier, the house of James Madison, a Founding Father who served as the 11th President of the United States & is hailed as “The Father of the Constitution”.
  • Continue to Alexandria, VA, to enjoy lunch on your own with free time to wander along the cobblestone streets of Old Town Alexandria. Explore the colonial town frequented by George Washington. Visit Christ Church where he attended services and tour Gadsby’s Tavern Museum where hospitality was enjoyed by Martha and George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, & the Marquis de Lafayette.
  • This evening, dine on authentic colonial-style fare with dinner included in the historic tavern & a visit from Mary Washington!
  • Check-in to your hotel to rest and relax.
  Day 3 - George Washington's Mount Vernon
  • Enjoy breakfast at the hotel this morning prior to checking out.
  • Explore George Washington's Mount Vernon, the estate of our 1st President, Commander of the Constitutional Army, and President of The Constitutional Convention. While visiting, we’ll pay our respects and lay a wreath at his gravesite on the property where he is entombed.
    • After lunch included at Mount Vernon, enjoy a Tour & Tasting at Washington’s Distillery and Grist Mill.
  • Depart for Fredericksburg, VA, where you’ll enjoy a delicious dinner included before checking in to your local hotel.
 

Day 4 - Fredericksburg & The Washington Family Home
  • After an included breakfast at the hotel this morning, embark on a Tour of Colonial Fredericksburg.
  • Visit Ferry Farm, the boyhood home of George Washington, stop at Mary Washington’s house, and visit the James Monroe Museum where you’ll see the famous “Monroe Doctrine Desk” and learn more about James Monroe’s relationship with George Washington.
  • Enjoy lunch on own while exploring Downtown Fredericksburg.
  • Tour the Rising Sun Tavern Museum. While not serving food or drink since 1827, the Rising Sun provides a lively interpretation of Tavern life. Built as his residence around 1760 by Charles Washington, George Washington's youngest brother, this frame building later became a tavern in 1792. Today it operates as a museum where guests are welcomed as if they have just stepped off a stagecoach into 18th century life.
  • Visit Kenmore, the home of Betty Washington Lewis (George Washington’s sister) who, during the Revolutionary War, loaned money to the state of Virginia to build and support a gun factory.
  • Indulge in a Tour & Tasting at A. Smith Bowman Distillery, dating all the way back to the years before Prohibition when the Bowman family had a granary and dairy farm in Sunset Hills, Virginia where they used excess grain to distill spirits.
  • Enjoy a delicious dinner included.
  • Return to your hotel for the remainder of your evening to rest, relax, and pack for your morning departure.
  Day 5 - "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death"
  • Enjoy breakfast at your hotel this morning prior to checking out & departing for Richmond, VA.
  • Visit Tuckahoe Plantation, the boyhood home of Thomas Jefferson. Tuckahoe Plantation, nestled along the James River in Virginia, stands as a living testament to American history, with its elegant 18th-century architecture and renowned association with Thomas Jefferson, offering visitors a glimpse into the region's colonial past.
  • Tour the Virginia State Capital which was designed by Thomas Jefferson himself!
  • Enjoy lunch on own today.
  • Experience a reenactment of Patrick Henry’s famous, “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death” speech at St. John’s Church.

  Day 6 - Colonial Williamsburg & The American Revolution Museum Yorktown
  • After an included breakfast this morning, discover how Williamsburg featured prominently in the Virginia Colony’s road to revolution. The tour is a living microcosm of the world of the Colonies during the time of the American Revolution.
  • This afternoon, take a deeper dive into history touring The American Revolution Museum at Yorktown & discover America’s beginnings. The American Revolution Museum at Yorktown tells the story of the nation’s founding, from the twilight of the colonial period to the dawn of the Constitution and beyond. Exciting indoor galleries feature period artifacts, immersive environments and films, including “The Siege of Yorktown,” with a 180-degree surround screen and dramatic special effects. Guests can explore the re-created Continental Army encampment and view daily demonstrations of military camp life, medical treatment, cooking and flintlock musket firings. A re-created Revolution-era farm, based on a real-life 18th-century family, allows visitors to help with chores in the house, kitchen, tobacco barn, gardens and crops.

  Day 7 - Jamestown Settlement
  • Enjoy breakfast at your hotel this morning prior to checking out.
  • Depart on a journey of exploration in Jamestown and the Jamestown Settlement, close to the site of the original colony, to discover the early beginnings of America through immersive films and fun outdoor re-creations.
  • Partake in lunch on own at the onsite Café before departing for home.
