Day 1 - Asheville Event Center Dinner & Show
  • Check-in to your suite.
  • For dinner, experience a toe tapping evening at the Black Mountain Bluegrass. Enjoy some of the finest Southern Style BBQ.
  • Depart for your hotel after dinner. (Meals: D)
   
Day 2 - Carl Sandburg Home, Lake Lure Inn Lunch, & Biltmore Estate
  • Enjoy a buffet breakfast at the hotel this morning.
  • Board motor coach and depart for the Carl Sandburg Home, the home of the Pulitzer Prize-winning poet and writer. The Sandburg family enjoyed a simple holiday at home at Connemara. They handmade gifts and baked Swedish cookies, gathered holly and greenery from the grounds to decorate mantels and tables, cut a white pine from the woods as the Christmas tree. Favorite tree ornaments were glass birds. The Christmas season was a time when the family was home and Carl Sandburg took a break from traveling. They gathered in the living room to listen to music, sing folk songs, and read stories.( pending availability)
  • Enjoy free time in Hendersonville on the quaint main street.
  • Don’t miss the Mast General Store! The Mast General Store was built, at least the first of its many rooms, in 1882 by Henry Taylor and opened in 1883. In 1897 half interest in the store was sold to W. W. Mast, a member of a pioneer family that settled in the valley. For the next 60 years, the store was owned and managed by the Mast Family. The store was sold by the Mast Family in 1973 to a doctor in Atlanta and a professor at Appalachian State University. Around about that same time, the site was named to the National Register of Historic Places as one of the finest remaining examples of an old country general store
  • Enjoy lunch included at Lake Lure Inn. Their Veranda Restaurant exemplifies a true fine dining experience. Join for an exquisite meal located just inside the main hotel. Enjoy elegant dining and a quaint place to unwind in the Tanner Dining Room or take in the breathtaking views of the mountains on the Veranda Terrace. Cool breezes, lakeside views, and the finest foods are just a few of the specialties offered by the Inn.
  • Arrive at the Biltmore Estate. Completed in 1895, George Vanderbilt's 250-room French château is a real life wonder.
  • Visit Antler Hill Village and Winery.   • Explore Biltmore House for a self-guided visit of the Candlelight Christmas Biltmore Estate. A majestic Norway spruce and pathway luminaries welcome you to America’s Largest Home®. Inside, with Christmas music playing, thousands of ornaments reflect the soft glow of candles, fireplaces, and twinkle lights. There is more than 100 hand decorated Christmas trees, 100,000 holiday lights, 1,200 live poinsettias and 6,000 feet of fresh evergreen garland that provide the Estate that magical ambiance satisfying all the senses. Day 3 - Western NC Farmer's Market & Depart for Home
  • Enjoy a buffet breakfast at the hotel this morning prior to checking out.
  • Board motor coach and head to the Western NC Farmer’s Market. The market is open year round, seven days a week and has outdoor and indoor areas. Check out the vendors, purchase a snack for the road and use the restrooms. The retail area features displays of high quality fruits and vegetables, mountain crafts, jams, jellies, preserves, sourwood honey, fresh baked breads, cookies and dozens of other farm fresh items. Inside you will also find a deli that offers sandwiches and ice cream.
  • Board motor coach, and depart for home. (Meals: B)
