Located on a dead-end street across from the Peabody Essex Museum and adjacent to the Tricentennial Witch Trials Memorial and The Charter Street Old Burying Point – reputed to be the 2nd oldest burial ground in the country - each attraction boasts gift shops with maritime gifts, confectioneries, books, T-shirts, and Pagan & Wiccan supplies.

  • Take a ghost tour of Salem, Massachusetts, also known as Witch City! Visit the most haunted locations in the infamous town, including Salem Old Town Hall, Ropes Mansion, Lyceum Hall, and more. Discover the ghosts of Salem in the dead of night, and reveal the shocking and tragic past.

Day 4 - Wednesday - Salem Witch Museum, Pickering Wharf, & The House of the Seven Gables
  • Enjoy breakfast at your hotel prior to checking out.
  • Visit the Salem Witch Museum. Follow the history of witches, witchcraft, and witch hunts through the ages. Our main presentation takes you back to the events of the Salem Witch Trials of 1692. After a historically accurate look at the Salem Witch Trials in our main exhibit, visitors are invited to challenge their beliefs about the word “witch”. “WITCHES: Evolving Perceptions” traces the evolution of the stereotypical witch and presents the beliefs of wicca as they are practiced today. How does a witch-hunt start? An analysis of the components allows visitors to see for themselves how fear can lead to scapegoating. Examples of modern witch-hunts make “WITCHES” a thought-provoking conclusion to a visit to the Salem Witch Museum.
  • Enjoy free time and lunch on your own on Pickering Wharf/Derby Street and/or Essex Street. Pickering Wharf has food, shops, spirits, at the top of the gangways.
  • Visit The House of the Seven Gables. When you arrive at The House of the Seven Gables - which constitutes its own national historic district on The National Register of Historic places - costumed interpreters will warmly greet you for an unforgettable historical experience. Outside, spectacular seaside gardens await you. Inside of The House of the Seven Gables, also known as the Turner-Ingersoll Mansion, you will discover a mysterious secret staircase where you least expect it! Built in 1668, this is the oldest surviving 17th century wooden mansion in New England. The House of the Seven Gables inspired author Nathaniel Hawthorne to write his legendary novel of the same name.
  • Depart for home.
